Like a HUB, a network switch is a junction box for network connections, enabling several computers to be included in a network. The difference being that a switch is equipped with a processor, which handles the data transfer in an intelligent fashion. Thus, the switch ensures a constant transfer rate of 100 Mbps at every port. The housing is provided with magnetic pads, allowing the switch to be conveniently attached to, for example, a metal (PC) cabinet/desk or cable duct. Suitable for 10/100 Mbps networks.
